Following the release of Weezer (The White Album), the band began working on what they called "The Black Album," but as they worked, they found the songs they were writing felt more like reveries from a beach at the end of the world. Instead of forcing a different direction, they began an entirely new album; Pacific Daydream was born. Pacific Daydream - an album full of the melodic mastery and craftsmanship for which Weezer are known - is a record that navigates the uncertainty between reality and dreams, blurring the line between the listener knowing if they are daydreaming the world of the album, or if the world of the album is daydreaming them. It's a record about finding the gray area between the black and the white, about escaping the everyday into the fantasy of what may be just down the line, but also maybe isn't. It's an album that sounds like the Beach Boys and The Clash fell in love by the ocean and had one hell of an amazing baby.

Widely considered to be both The Smiths’ finest work and one of the greatest albums ever made, ‘The Queen Is Dead’ has cast a significant influence over subsequent generations since it was first released in the summer of 1986. Now Warner Bros. Records can confirm details of a newly mastered and expanded version of the album that will be released on 20th October.
“Every record I make has an archetype,” says Clark. “‘Strange Mercy’ was Housewives on Pills. ‘St. Vincent’ was Near-Future Cult Leader. ‘MASSEDUCTION’ is different, it’s pretty first person. You can’t fact-check it, but if you want to know about my life, listen to this record.”
‘MASSEDUCTION’ is the culmination of years of writing, with songs crafted from voice memos, text messages, and snippets of melodies that came to Clark while traveling the globe. Special guests on the album include Thomas Bartlett on piano, Kamasi Washington on saxophone, Jenny Lewis on vocals, and beat production from Sounwave. Greg Leisz and Rich Hinman add pedal steel, and Tuck and Patti Andress contribute guitar and vocals respectively on select tracks.

KURT VILE: We ran into each other on the road in various continents and talked about the recordings. I guess it wasn’t till i had another tour booked for the following summer in Australia that we thought we should record as much as we can, no major goal to make it a full length but it came together that way because the vibe was so strong. I love working with Courtney, the collaboration was laid back with less pressure. COURTNEY BARNETT: Now we finished the album, we dreamt up an amazing band which we’ve called THE SEA LICE (inspired by a Stella Mozgawa beach-side-story) and me n Kurt will be standing there out front with our guitars singing songs together. Songs from this album we did, a handful of our own songs from previous albums, maybe some old folk songs n what not. Harmonies and guitarmonies galore. Very collaborative. Lotta Sea Lice is the result of 8 days in the studio spread over almost 15 months when Courtney and Kurt’s respective touring schedules allowed for them to be in the same place at the same time.

Honed by the extensive touring that took them around the world and back during the preceding 12 months, the mighty rock and soul band tore through a tight set packed with favorites such as 'I Need Never Get Old,' 'Look It Here,' 'Shake,' 'Howling at Nothing' and 'Wasting Time.' The night culminated with their special guests, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, joining the guys for a swampy, powerful 'S.O.B.' before finishing with Sam Cooke's classic 'Having a Party,' as the second line paraded with band in tow right out of the theater.
EVANESCENCE returns this Fall with SYNTHESIS, their fourth studio album. The group premiered “Bring Me To Life”—an instant grat track—via Rolling Stone. “’Bring Me To Life’ is new to me again after 15 years,” says AMY LEE of EVANESCENCE. It’s diffi cult to explain how good that makes me feel. Having the chance to incorporate things I’ve heard in my head throughout that long period of time, nuances from the way I sing it live, just pouring the weight and perspective of the life I’ve lived now back into that root—it’s pure satisfaction.” The two-time, GRAMMY Award-winning group is currently in the studio fi nishing the new album through August with producers Will Hunt and orchestra arranger and composer David Campbell. In addition to the re-imagined catalog songs, the forthcoming SYNTHESIS album will feature two new EVANESCENCE songs. Cheap Trick wants you to want them — for Christmas. The ’70s supergroup has just completed work on a holiday album, which will mark the band’s third release in just two years. News of the upcoming holiday album comes just one month after Cheap Trick released the album We’re All Alright. Last year, the band dropped the album Bang, Zoom, Crazy… Hello.
In an interview with Orange Amps, longtime Cheap Trick bassist Tom Petersson revealed that the band finished recording a holiday album “about two months ago.” Petersson revealed the Christmas record will be released around Halloween and said it came out “great.” “We did one standard, and then all sorts of different songs on there, it’s really cool,” he said. “We’ve got a few originals, and we covered songs from artists that we really like which have done Christmas songs.”
Because the album is all Christmas songs, Petersson said there was just one issue the band had in the recording studio. He joked, “The only confusing thing about recording this record, is that every song had the word Christmas in it, so we could never keep it straight during recording, trying to figure out which song was which; ‘Ok guys so let’s do the Christmas….. the sleigh song next.'”
After four decades together, Cheap Trick shows no signs of slowing down. Petersson said it’s hard for him to explain the band’s natural creative drive, but he added that the bandmates still love recording and writing together. Tom also said the group is still striving to make “that perfect record,” which could be what keeps them going. The band has said they hope to continue to release one new album each year. In 2016, Cheap Trick was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Robert Plant's eleventh studio album, Carry Fire, will be released by Nonesuch/Warner Bros. Records on October 13, 2017. The album, produced by Plant in the west of England and Wales, melds unusual rhythms with naturalism. As with his 2014 album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, the album features his band The Sensational Space Shifters. They are also joined here by special guests, including Chrissie Hynde.
Of his 12th studio album and its enigmatic title, Destroyer’s Dan Bejar offers the following: Sometime last year, I discovered that the original name for “The Wild Ones” (one of the great English-language ballads of the last 100 years or so) was “Ken.” I had an epiphany, I was physically struck by this information. In an attempt to hold on to this feeling, I decided to lift the original title of that song and use it for my own purposes. It’s unclear to me what that purpose is, or what the connection is. I was not thinking about Suede when making this record. I was thinking about the last few years of the Thatcher era. Those were the years when music first really came at me like a sickness, I had it bad. Maybe “The Wild Ones” speaks to that feeling, probably why Suede made no sense in America. I think “ken” also means “to know.” ken was produced by Josh Wells of Black Mountain, who has been the drummer in Destroyer since 2012. The album was recorded in its entirety in the jam space/studio space that the group calls The Balloon Factory. However, unlike Poison Season, ken was not recorded as a “band” record, though everyone in the band does make an appearance.
Their tenth studio album, ‘Scream Above The Sounds' follows ‘Keep The Village Alive' which went straight to #1 when it was released in 2015 - their sixth chart-topper after ‘Performance and Cocktails' (1999), ‘Just Enough Education To Perform' (2001) ‘You Gotta Go There To Come Back' (2003), ‘Language. Sex. Violence. Other?' (2005) and ‘Pull The Pin' (2007). ‘Scream Above The Sounds' was primarily recorded in the band's HQ in west London with a further session at RAK Studios. Created with the help of regular collaborator Jim Lowe, it's an album in which creative sonic touches add to the band's emphasis on songwriting and melody
JD McPherson presents what he calls "A truly romantic garage rock record". Undivided Heart & Soul produced by Dan Molad (Lucius) & McPherson, and developed largely in the studio (that studio being the historic RCA Studio B in Nashville), carries a sense of immediacy and irreverence. "In writing this record, I threw several handfuls of caution to the wind. Lyrically, I was allowing myself to be exposed in a way I never have before. Concurrently, maybe as some sort of a self defense mechanism, the guitars got fuzzier and louder. The first day at RCA was like being in church... by the second day, it was a high school band's rehearsal space." Putting the hands of Dan Molad on the wheel of the record ensured that the music didn't take too many expected turns. "Having toured with Lucius and befriended Dan, I knew he was the guy to push my buttons and challenge me to try new things. He's a tireless worker. He's constantly tinkering away on something... and music just falls out of him." The vintage recording equipment and instruments still housed in RCA Studio B greatly informed the direction of the record. "Each night, at the end of tracking, someone would invariably say, "You wanna put vibes on this?", speaking of the old RCA Vibraphone. I mean, you can hear THAT vibraphone on Roy Orbison's "Crying"... we couldn't keep our hands off of it. It guided some of the songs into some strange and wonderful places. "Lucky Penny" took such a cool turn once Ray (Jacildo, keys) added some to it. We wrote several songs on the piano that Floyd Cramer played "Last Date" on. We were soaking up so much of the phantom energy in that room, it led to some incredible sonic territory." "Most folks know us for our take on vintage R&B and early Rock N' Roll. The past year, I've been digging so much into the heavier, brasher sounds of early Rock N' Roll... from bands like The Sonics, Link Wray, and into some early British Rock such as The Creation... these influences feature heavily in these songs. "The tunes that showed up weren't exactly always in familiar territory, and... we greeted them as welcome strangers. They have a lot of heart... and that's what Rock N' Roll should always have."

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Tegan and Sara's classic 2007 album, The Con, Warner Bros. Records will release The Con X: Covers. The new album features 14 of Tegan and Sara's favorite artists, each interpreting a song from the original album.
Tegan says, "As the 10th anniversary of The Con approached, Sara and I started to brainstorm meaningful ways to celebrate what was easily one of our most important records. Almost immediately we established that a tour playing all 14 songs in a more intimate and stripped-down arrangement would be memorable for our diehard fans. But we also wanted a companion piece that would live on past the anniversary, hence The Con X: Covers album was born.
"We wanted the proceeds to go to our recently launched Tegan and Sara Foundation, which raises money for self-identified women and girls in the LGBTQ community. With that intention set, we asked 14 artists who were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves to each cover a song from The Con, in any fashion they saw fit. All the artists agreed to donate their time and energy to the project and their labels all agreed to waive their fees as well. We are beyond grateful for the contributions of each artist, and we hope fans of The Con will be moved by their interpretations."
Warner Bros. Records will be donating net album proceeds to the Tegan and Sara Foundation. A portion of the proceeds from Tegan and Sara's The Con X: Tour will also benefit the foundation.
On September 29th, Ibeyi will release Ash via XL Recordings. Their first album, the eponymous Ibeyi, grappled with the past—the sister’s relationship, origins, loss, and roots. It earned them fans and collaborators in some of the most iconic and crucial artists of today, Beyoncé and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre included. By contrast, Ash is a more visceral and potent political statement, and while firmly rooted in Afro-Cuban culture and history, finds itself entirely concerned with Ibeyi’s present: Who Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi are, what’s important to them, and how they live today, especially given that the spheres, both personally and politically, are entirely different from when Ibeyi was recorded. It’s also a testament to their cathartic live performances, where they’re able to transmute a vast array of emotions—sorrow, anger, sensuality, happiness—to and through their fans. Ash is also a study in deft electronic production. Ibeyi worked once again alongside XL head Richard Russell, a confidante and friend, to produce Ash at his studio. “We absolutely wanted, 100%, to work with him again: It was not even a question,” Lisa-Kaindé says. “Richard is an amazing producer...wherever you want to go, he will guide you there. But it feels like you’re playing with him. You’re sharing ideas together and he has an amazing ear. It’s like a flow, it’s really easy.” To that effect, Naomi adds: “It’s like we produced the album too, actually, and it’s a good feeling.” Along with Russell’s stylized production sensibilities, Ibeyi drew from a host of influences ranging from Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica, Meshell Ndegeocello, Erykah Badu and Nina Simone and beyond, to craft the wide-ranging musical landscape of Ash.
